Forks Township has suspended its police chief, Leon Fisher, over allegations he used a missing forklift at his home.
The Pennsylvania Department of General Services, which sold the forklift for $200 under a program allowing municipalities to buy federal surplus at low prices, brought the allegations to the attention of the township, according to a report in the Allentown Morning Call.
Under the program, equipment sold must be used by a government entity, not individuals. Forks Township was suspended from the program after the forklift, purchased originally for spare parts, was allegedly found in use at Mr Fisher's home.
