One of India's leading forklift manufacturers, Voltas, has agreed to distribute and support the Flexi range of articulated forklifts in India.

Voltas is part of the Tata Group, the largest industrial group in India. Tata has interests in various industry sectors and has in the past few years acquired Jaguar Land Rover, Tetley Tea and Corus Steel (now Tata Steel Europe).

John Maguire, Flexi Narrow Aisle Ltd's sales and marketing director, says the UK-based company is experiencing increasing demand for its products from the so-called BRIC economies - Brazil, Russia, India and China. "The agreement with Voltas in India is a reflection of the growth we have enjoyed across Asia."

Flexi Narrow Aisle's policy is to market, supply and provide service support for its UK-manufactured forklifts through well-established independent materials handling distributors globally. It works closely with its existing overseas distribution network to develop business relationships with potential new dealers and customers in emerging economies.

"I firmly believe that specialist manufacturers such as ourselves will enjoy long-term success if they resist the temptation to license out the intellectual property of their products," Maguire says.
