Konecranes outsources data centre services

Hewlett Packard will operate Konecranes' data centre services under a seven-year agreement.
Konecranes' data centre services include the hosting of application servers, back-up equipment and databases. Konecranes CIO Antti Koskelin says the agreement will enable Konecranes to offer a standardised solution for IT data services.
"This new arrangement will also give us the opportunity to operate world-class business applications," he says. The project will start this year and be implemented by 2012.

AWPT offers free stickers

The American Work Platform Training (AWPT) subsidiary of the International Powered Access Federation is offering free stickers to promote workplace safety.
The stickers, placed on aerial work platforms or mast climbing work platforms, remind operators that they have to be properly trained to operate the equipment.
AWPT hopes that the voluntary program will result in increased awareness of the need for operators to be trained before using work platforms. For more information, go to www.awpt.org.
