Konecranes supplies machines to the Mediterranean News Story - 8 May 2008 ( #359 ) - HYVINKÄÄ, Finland 1 min read Konecranes has received an order for 12 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes from MSC Terminal Valencia (MSC), a Spanish subsidiary of the Swiss-based MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company group.The value of the order was not disclosed.MSC Mediterranean has expanded its maritime fleet and increased its ownership in container terminals over the past few years. It is investing in the RTGs for its container terminal in Valencia to cope with increasing container traffic. Aku Lehtinen, Konecranes' RTG cranes director, says the manufacturer's strong position and service network in Spain and its advanced technical solutions were deciding factors in sealing the deal.The cranes have 50 metric ton lifting capacities and can stack one-over-five containers high and six-plus truck lanes wide. They will be equipped with autosteering, container positioning and autostop features. The order will start delivery at the end of 2008.
