A man weighing 335 kilograms (784 pounds) has been hoisted out of his home by a forklift to attend hospital for a hernia operation, because he was unable to get out of bed.

Ambulance paramedics called firemen after they found it was impossible to lift the man, 41. Six firemen were also unable to lift him, according to The Evening Standard newspaper.

Instead, his wall and a neighbour's fence, a flowerbed and shrubs were knocked down, and straps were put underneath the man so he could be lifted out of his home by a forklift.

Meanwhile, in Kane County, USA, coroner Chuck West has spent USD55,000 (GBP35,000) on a forklift to move corpses after lately receiving several large bodies, including seven weighing more than 500 pounds (226 kilograms) and one weighing 700 pounds (317 kilograms).
