Australian manufacturer Mobicon Systems has its first 3-High straddle carrier in production, with sales talks underway with a number of large end-users in Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

Talking exclusively with Forkliftaction News, Mobicon CEO and founder Tom Schults says the 3-High, which is able to stack three containers high, is being developed in response to customer demand and potential opportunities.

“It allows our customers to maximise their site space and gain back valuable square metres to utilise,” Schults explains. “We also recognised our opportunity to compete in some additional markets.

“In some cases a 3-High Mobicon will benefit a customer over a reach stacker [because] we have a lower running cost and a lower maintenance costs and there is less weight on infrastructure (such as concrete).”

Schults says the 3-High joins Mobicon’s product suite with the lowest axle weight for a container handler on the market and comes with a 20 in. (50.8cm) - 40 in. (101.6cm) spreader bar, six cameras and auto detect features.

He adds the 3-High is suitable for use in transport and logistics, by primary producers and 3PLs.

“The 3-High Mobicon is also available in battery electric,” Schults continues. “In the last three years Mobicon Systems have added battery electric to our 2-High Mobicons and the same system works for the 3-High.”
