UGL upgrades to electric forklifts

Sydney-based rail maintenance and supply chain services company UGL, has replaced its LPG-powered forklifts at its Auburn site with two new electric Enforcer Forklifts.

A subsidiary of Cimic Group, UGL states the upgrade to electric forklifts supports its sustainability ambitions.

“This initiative supports UGL’s commitment to environmental responsibility with the adoption of low emissions technologies that contribute to our Sustainability Plan ambition of net zero emissions by 2045,” UGL states.

“At UGL, we believe that every step towards environmental sustainability is a step in the right direction.

"By choosing battery electric forklifts, we are not only improving our operational efficiency but also setting a standard for environmental responsibility in our industry.”

UGL says the electric forklifts were chosen because they produce zero tailpipe emissions which will help it to reduce its Scope 1 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while helping its clients to reduce their Scope 3 GHG emissions.

“The elimination of tailpipe emissions also improves the air quality within the workshop,” UGL continues. “Electric forklifts operate more quietly than their diesel and LPG counterparts, creating a quieter and more pleasant working environment for the team.”

Additional benefits of the new forklifts include improved safety features and lower long-term maintenance costs.
