Litum's new PathAware forklift safety systemUS-based real-time location systems (RTLS) provider Litum, has launched its PathAware forklift safety solution which operates via UWB-enabled vehicle tags and sensors mounted directly onto the machine.
Unlike most systems which depend on the use of wearables or camera networks, the PathAware system is “tagless by design”, with the vehicle-mounted sensors detecting pedestrians, obstacles and other vehicles.
The system offers 360-degree situational awareness in all environments, without relying on line-of-sight, effectively seeing “around corners, through obstructions, and in blind spots”, Litum states.
PathAware is a self-contained plug-and-play system with on-board alerts.
Litum says the PathAware system can be upgraded over time with optional modules such as geofencing, location-based analytics and full-facility RTLS.
Litum is marketing the system as a cost-effective alternative to camera-based or infrastructure-heavy systems.
