US supply chain AI solutions provider Kargo has released the Kargo Lift system, purpose-built for forklifts and AGVs which, it claims, enhances warehouse visibility while automating critical processes.

Kargo Lift extends the AI capabilities of its Kargo Towers, and being a mobile unit fixed to forklifts and AGVs, automates the shipping and receiving processes while taking data collection beyond the loading dock.

The system performs a host of automated functions as freight is loaded and unloaded, including quality inspections, updating inventory and verifying shipment accuracy, reducing the need for manual labour.

“Equipped with an 80 MP multi-camera system, the Kargo Lift captures a clear view of the front of pallets, as well as video of loading and unloading activities,” Kargo says in a statement.

“The Kargo Lift also enhances safety by detecting and alerting operators to potential hazards, while video footage supports ongoing training and compliance efforts.”

Founder and chief executive officer Sam Lurye says of the new system: “Our goal at Kargo has always been to push the boundaries of what’s possible in industrial automation. (As) with all Kargo products, we have meticulously designed the Kargo Lift to be easy to install, drive immediate value and seamlessly handle all the complexity of an industrial environment.”

Kargo was founded in San Francisco in 2019 and specialises in automation and AI for the logistics and materials handling sectors.
