EasyMile, which makes driverless tow tractors for manufacturers and airports, has been awarded a key safety certification for its electrical and electronic systems.

The company says accredited evaluator CertX awarded ISO 26262 compliance of its Functional Safety Management process up to ASIL D.

"We are thrilled to receive confirmation of our ISO 26262 compliance, reflecting years of dedicated effort and collaboration across our organisation," says Benoit Perrin, EasyMile’s general manager.

"This achievement validates our commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of our driverless technology, which is now mature for many commercial use cases."

EasyMile was the first driverless technology provider in Europe authorised to operate at level 4 of autonomous driving on public roads.

The technology has driven autonomously in more than 400 locations in 30 countries, travelling more than 1,000,000 km.

The company’s tow tractor solution is used by automotive manufacturing plants and logistics centres worldwide, including BMW and Johne Deere.

EasyMile driverless equipment is also operating at major airports around the world for baggage handling and cargo operations and autonomous terminal tractors are working at terminals in Europe.
