The Rotainer unit features CRS's claw lid-lifting systemMineral sands miner Tronox has taken delivery of a second Rotainer Eurospec 38RS manufactured by Sydney-based Container Rotation Systems (CRS).
CRS delivered its first Rotainer to Tronox’s Broken Hill operations last year, which is now cycling at more than 1,200 containers a month, the company says in its latest newsletter.
Both Rotainer units at the mineral sands operation are fitted with CRS’s claw lid lifting system that works with generic container lids and lock systems.
CRS's Rotainers are self-powered remote-controlled stand-alone units which can be fitted to any reach stacker the in the same manner as a general ISO 20ft container.
Earlier this year Lynas Rare Earths took delivery of a Rotainer Europsec 38RS at its Mt Weld mining operation as well as a Rotorcon, CRS’s heavy-duty mining container.
CRS is also installing a Rotainer 360PC for a portal crane in Lynas's Kalgoorlie processing plant, which also includes customised automated lid lifting apparatus for both the miner’s Mt Weld and Kalgoorlie plants.
CRS says its Rotainer is a three-in-one container rotator that can be fitted to a reachstacker, mobile harbour crane or ship-to-shore crane.
