We recently reported on increased acquisition activity in the UK equipment hire market.
That activity continues, with this week's confirmation that Sunbelt UK, which already boasts more than 200 depots and 1,800 pieces of equipment, has acquired Media Access Solutions.
What we see in this deal is a large mainstream hirer expanding its market by gobbling up a niche player which is dominant in the film and TV market.
The equipment is the same, but the customer base is very different - and more demanding.
The integration of MAS will be interesting - and, luckily, owner Tim Kendall will remain on board to guide the transition.
