Industry news tends to come in waves, and we're now in the financial reporting season, so we can expect a steady flow of company results in the next few editions.
What is surprising is the array of new product announcements this week. Generally, we see a rush of new products for the major trade shows, but clearly the events calendar is becoming too complicated and manufacturers can't keep pace or decide when and where to unveil new offerings.
For buyers, the scattered approach is a blessing because it allows them to consider each new product in isolation. The downside is that it's harder to compare isolated products than those launched side by side at a big show. And then there's also the nagging doubt about whether something better, cheaper, more efficient or safer is looming on the horizon.
One thing's for sure: there's never a dull moment.
