As the 2019 Formula One racing season begins, some of the materials handling industry stalwarts are again aligning with the top teams.
Konecranes recently extended its collaboration with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport to become an official supplier to the five-time Formula One World Champions.
Under the new contract, Konecranes will provide Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport with its latest technology, including its TRUCONNECT Remote Monitoring which connects data, machines and people to enhance safety and productivity.
The agreement builds on already strong cooperation between the two partners. Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport uses Konecranes equipment at its technology centre in Brackley, UK, and Konecranes has had a successful global marketing partnership with Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas since 2017.
Meanwhile, JCB has announced a partnership with new British motor racing team SportPesa Racing Point F1 team (formerly Force India) which will see prominent JCB branding on the two cars driven by Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez from the first Formula One race in Melbourne in March.
In addition, JCB will play a major part in Racing Point's development by providing machines to help in the construction of the team's planned new factory later this year. JCB will also provide a range of power tools and workwear for the British team as well as equipment including access platforms and generators to assist the team when it races in Europe.
Linde has a relationship with the Renault Formula One team which had one of its cars on display at Linde's World of Materials Handling show in Mannheim, Germany last year.
The first event of the 2019 season, the Australian Grand Prix, will be held in Melbourne on March 14-18, with organisers hoping the scores of telehandlers and other materials handling equipment at the track will not have to show their capabilities by removing damaged vehicles from the track quickly and safely.
