Newcrest's Kalmar reachstacker |
Kalmar and NTP Forklifts Australia have delivered a Kalmar DRG450?S675HCXS reachstacker to Newcrest Mining in Orange.
The new machine is the largest reachstacker in Australia, enabling Newcrest to lift 31 T containers at 7 m reach, optimising the number of containers handled within set loading and unloading cycle times onto two private rail sidings.
Newcrest, one of the world's largest gold mining companies, has a dewatering facility located in the Cadia Valley near Orange. The facility, located in Blayney, approximately 35 km from the mine site, will service approximately four trains a week, with a tight loading and unloading window of five hours from train arrival to departure. Efficiencies in loading are integral to ensure the trains run on time with maximum load capacity.
The unit was assembled and commissioned on site with training provided by NTP Forklifts Australia and subcontract dealer Central West Lift Trucks.
Service arrangements and extended warranty were included in the sale of the machine.
The machine has been fitted with equipment and devices to make it environmentally efficient and ergonomic for the operators, and addresses all the criteria of the SAF 2008 mining safety requirements.
