Forklift maker Daewoo is the latest materials handling heavy hitter to join the list of sponsors of the "Archies" - the Fork Lift Truck Association's (FLTA) Annual Awards for Excellence.

Daewoo joins others, including Albury Asset Rentals, Calor, Chloride Motive Power, Narrow Aisle Flexi, Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks, and Translift Bendi as major sponsors of the event.

FLTA Chairman Richard Baxter said nominations for the 2005 event were already being submitted, and he was "delighted" to have Daewoo on board.

"Daewoo's decision to become involved reflects the truly global significance of the Annual Awards for Excellence," he said.

Nominees across safety, environment, ergonomics and innovation will attend a gala ceremony at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham, on February 26, 2005. A new award, Employee of the Year, has also been introduced.
