Liebherr Maritime Cranes has relocated a number of functions to its maritime production site in Rostock.

As part of its strategic realignment, the crane maker has moved design, sales and customer service for mobile harbour cranes, reachstackers, ship cranes as well as offshore cranes to the Rostock facility.

The relocation is intended to further increase performance, focus on new growth areas and improve operational efficiency across the entire maritime portfolio.

"Centralised know-how in combination with direct sea access provides valuable advantages for our customers," says a company statement. "The new structure will speed decision-making and increase productivity, while providing a simplified customer experience."

The company has also unveiled a new competence centre formed through the bundling of its essential maritime sales and technical resources in one location.

It will also help maximise use of Liebherr's Maritime Training Centre which offers high-quality training solutions and customised product training. The latest training methods using Liebherr simulators, cutaway models and 3D-simulations make sure that trainees will be able to immediately apply their new skills in practice, according to the company.

Established in 2002, the factory in Rostock has been continuously growing and currently employs more than 1,400 people.

Liebherr is retaining its factories in Rostock, Killarney (Ireland), Nenzing (Austria) and Sunderland (United Kingdom) "as a production network".

"This allows for more flexibility in order to quickly adjust to varying market demands. Moreover, it ensures that our products are as fast as possible ready for operation," the statement adds.
