The certified system is mandated by government decree when utilizing the scale for trade use (ex. Buying or Selling by Weight). Mid-West Freight (MWF) company needed to verify trade loads and waybill weights on random checks to assure the individual shippers were not understating waybill weights which could be costly to the transporter's company. MWF knew that reminding customers of their mistaken low freight weight would help keep the weight correctly reported. Heavy fines for overweight trucks would also be reduced by having correct weight tallies from correct freight bills. The Weigh Point (Legal for Trade Scale) model, LTFS, proved itself with its unique features and benefits:
  1. Scale does not degrade lift truck capacity
  2. Easily transferred between lift trucks
  3. If truck is out of service then scale could transfer to another truck
  4. If scale is out of service then lift truck could continue, simply trade out forks
  5. 99.9% accuracy always maintained
  6. Overnight service parts
  7. US NTEP approved measurements/ Canadian approved measurements
  8. Affordable
Mid-West Freight Company found the random checks beneficial and circulated the scale to its branches.
