EaglePicher Technologies has introduced a high-performance lead acid battery and a rapid charger, designed to help companies extend the in-service time of their materials handling equipment.

Available in 24, 36, 48 and 72-volt configurations, EaglePicher's Horizon batteries are optimised for fast charging, and can charge in one-eighth of the time a conventional battery takes, according to the company. Ultra-low internal resistance prevents the batteries from overheating in service or under charge and allows them to be recharged without a cool-down rest.

The FazCharge is a 3kW, 36-volt, 85-ampere-hour charger that charges lead acid batteries two to four times faster than a conventional charger, and without battery damage or degradation.

EaglePicher says the charger is designed to deliver high levels of power at the fastest rate in its power range, the FazCharge features a self-regulating charging circuit that permits more amperage to be put into a battery while generating significantly less heat.
