Jungheinrich officially opened its new plant for warehouse and system trucks in the industrial estate of Degernpoint last week.
Located 3 km (1.9 mi.) from the company's main Moosburg plant in the south of Germany, the production area in the new facility spans over 23,000 sqm (247,570 sqft.) of floor space and can produce over 3,000 warehouse and system trucks annually. The plant, which took 16 months to build after the Moosburg site reached its limit, started producing stackers in September.
Jungheinrich invested a total of EUR40 million (USD53 million) in the new factory

Dr Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach, chairman of the supervisory board of Jungheinrich Moosburg GmbH, says the Degernpoint facility enables the company to "pursue sustainable growth, expand [the group's] market position and safeguard jobs in the region". There are currently 300 people employed at the Degernpoint facility.
The plant produces the EKS 210/312 order pickers and high rack stackers (EKX 513/515, EFX 410, ETX 513/515, EFX 410/413) for global markets.
According to Rosenbach, Jungheinrich is anticipating higher demand in this segment. "We are anticipating an annual market growth of up to 15%, above all in the growth markets of Asia, Eastern Europe, the Near East and South America."
Jungheinrich counterbalance trucks will continue to be produced at its core plant in Moosburg, with optimised production processes and increased manufacturing capacity for battery-powered and IC engine counterbalance trucks already in the pipeline.
