Hyundai dealer Acclaim Handling has beaten five other suppliers to win a tender by DP World to deliver 78 Hyundai forklifts for the newest and largest logistics port in Europe, London Gateway Port.
The GBP1.6 million (USD2.1 million) order includes 10 Hyundai 30BH-9 electric forklifts, two Hyundai 50DA-7E diesel forklifts and one Hyundai 80D-7E diesel forklift.
Gino Van der Auwera, Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe sales manager, says the company beat forklift providers like Briggs Equipment and Linde Material Handling to win the contract. "Our solution and specifications were most compliant with tender specifications and Hyundai and Acclaim Handling were most eager to win this deal."
The trucks were customised with a paint colour the client selected, while the 8T diesel forklift was fitted with a specially designed mast.
Located on the north bank of the River Thames, the new port with six berths can handle large container ships and has an annual throughput of 3.5 million TEUs.
