Genesis recommended seven new Doosan D160s to Elliott Group Ltd. |
Doosan dealer Genesis has supplied seven new forklifts to modular accommodation systems provider Elliott Group Ltd.
Elliott's site yards, where preparation of a range of portable accommodation takes place, are typically made up of tight areas, small spaces and extremely heavy and large products. The company relies heavily on the forklifts that operate in the yards.
"Our old equipment just wasn't meeting expectations any more. It had become shabby, unreliable and, most importantly, expensive to maintain," says Elliott divisional director Nigel Quinn, who had recognised that a more substantial and tougher fleet was needed.
In particular, the operability of Elliott's 4.2 ac. (1.7 ha) Ampthill site is critical for the thousands of organisations that rely on the company for their modular space and storage needs.
"We operate over 24 sites around the UK. This usually means we have one big truck per site to keep our operations at a steady pace. The trucks on our sites are used repeatedly and undertake a range of general yard duties [like] sorting, stacking and uploading portable accommodation. Needless to say, if our trucks stop, so do our operations," Quinn explains.
After evaluating Elliott's Ampthill site and its existing trucks, Genesis recognised that significant savings could be made by restructuring the fleet to more accurately reflect Elliott's business needs.
Genesis recommended seven new Doosan D160s for the existing application. The D160 is one of Doosan's most robust and durable machines, with the manufacturer calling it "the monster of Doosan's forklift line-up".
Doosan UK general sales manager, Paul Watson, believes the equipment suits Elliott well. "The introduction of the new Doosan equipment will really help Elliott to get the job done. These are amazing machines; they're fast, strong and safe, which make them ideal for this kind of environment. As well as increasing efficiency and operator time, the extra truck capacities allow for added stability and comfort for the driver, thus increasing overall safety."
Established in 1963, the Elliott Group Ltd started as Elliott's of Peterborough, and was formed to manufacture and sell mobile classrooms in and around the local area. The company expanded over the years to supply its products and services on a national scale. In 2005, Elliott was acquired by the Algeco Scotsman Group, a world leader in modular space and secure storage solutions. The Algeco Scotsman Group manages a fleet of over 320,000 units, with operations in 26 countries.
