Europe Container Terminals has ordered 13 Kalmar reach stackers

Cargotec has received an order to deliver 13 Kalmar reach stackers and four Kalmar empty container handlers to Europe Container Terminals.

The value of the order, supported by a five-year maintenance agreement, is confidential.

Cargotec says its ability to deliver high-performance, eco-friendly products and proven excellent service over a longstanding relationship helped it secure the deal.

The 45 T Kalmar reach stackers have the latest Volvo diesel engines which use selective catalytic reduction technology to deliver low emissions that comply with the 2011 EU stage 3B and EPA Tier 4i emission regulations.

The Kalmar DRF 450-60S5 reach stackers, Kalmar DCF 100-45E7 and DCF90-45E6 empty container handlers are slated for delivery at the end of this month.

Separately, Cargotec will also supply four Kalmar ESC340W straddle carriers to port operator Northport (Malaysia) Bhd. The 40 T models are scheduled for delivery to the company's Port Klang site in September. The machines are part of a strategy to replace the existing fleet with newer models.

Cargotec has also been commissioned to refurbish and upgrade Northport's ship-to-shore cranes. The older cranes now use the latest crane management software and wireless remote diagnostic tools. Most have also been fitted with Bromma spreaders.

Northport has over 2,400 employees and handled about 3.3 million TEUs in 2011.
