Toyota's new smartphone game "Forklift Challenge"
Toyota introduces mobile game
Brussels, Belgium

Toyota Material Handling Europe has launched a mobile game featuring the benefits of its forklift stability technology.
The company's first mobile application, "Forklift Challenge", was created to raise awareness of the capabilities of the Toyota System of Active Stability (Toyota SAS).
It is available in several languages and can be used online, on a PC or Mac. The smartphone version is available for free via iTunes. Android users must have Android 2.1 to play the game.

Konecranes buys crane business
Baden-Dättwil, Switzerland

Konecranes has acquired ABB Schweiz AG's crane systems business.
ABB Schweiz of Baden-Dättwil, Switzerland has 30 employees. The entity was originally established to serve ABB's own crane systems and had 2010 net sales of about EUR6 million (USD7.8 million).
Konecranes says its presence in Switzerland is bolstered by ABB' Schweiz's "large customer base, good connections to all industries, and experienced and highly qualified employees".

Good Friend records big sales jump
Hangzhou, China

Good Friend International has posted record-breaking sales for the 11 months to 30 November. Sales increased 42% to about RMB1.76 billion (USD277 million) from the same period of 2010.
ET Net News reports the Chinese manufacturer sold 4,029 units for its forklift business in that period, worth a total of RMB252 million (USD40 million). This is 80% more than the previous year.

Jungheinrich first past the post
Vienna, Austria

Jungheinrich has come first in an energy-efficiency truck test by the Vienna University.
The objective of the test was to compare 1.6 T, three-wheeled counterbalance trucks powered by electricity motors.
To determine energy efficiency, the judges measured the trucks' main supply, battery chargers and traction batteries. They used dynamic and static tests to measure energy flows.
Jungheinrich's EFG 216 model was found to have the lowest energy requirement per hour. The test results are available here:

TIL builds West Bengal plant
India

TIL Ltd has started building its crane and reachstacker factory at Vidyasagar Industrial Park in Kharagpur, West Bengal.
Maritime Gateway reports that the plant will manufacture reachstackers and forklifts in association with Hyster, and cranes in partnership with Manitowac.
TIL has been supplying a range of construction, mining, power systems, materials handling, port and road-building equipment in India since 1944.
