Transmon launches safety system
Leicester, United Kingdom

Transmon Engineering has introduced a pedestrian alert system using RFID technology to reduce the incidence of accidents involving pedestrians and forklifts.
The device can be fitted to almost any forklift and detects the presence of a pedestrian, via an RFID active tag that is worn by onsite workers at all times. The RFID active tags pulse a signal several times every second, activating the system when it enters the proximity detecting field (about 7 m (23 ft.) from a forklift). A warning in the form of a beacon, buzzer or LED alerts the driver and pedestrian that they are close.
