Piedmont Lithium has appointed Austin Devaney as vice president - sales & marketing. Devaney will play a broad strategic role with Piedmont and will drive relationships with the global automotive, battery and cathode companies that are the prospective customers for the battery-grade lithium hydroxide planned to produce in the United States.
He is a chemical engineer by training and has spent most of his career in senior commercial roles. From 2015 to 2019, he served in increasingly senior sales and marketing roles with Albemarle Corporation, ultimately serving as Vice President, strategic marketing and customer excellence. For Albemarle's predecessor, Rockwood Lithium, Devaney served as global product manager - lithium hydroxide and national sales manager - battery products.
Prior to his time in the lithium business, Devaney had senior marketing and operational roles with US chemical companies including Occidental Chemical Corporation, Kemira, and Fuchs Lubricants.

Airpes has expanded its North American network with the appointment of three new sales representatives based in Chicago, Louisville and Boston, respectively.
Justin Wieners, of Louisville, Kentucky; Trevor Deck, of Chicago, Illinois; and Tim O'Leary, of Providence, Rhode Island have joined a growing team of individuals and businesses that represent Airpes in various regions and end-user marketplaces.
Wieners will principally cover an automotive and aluminium hotbed including Cincinnati, Louisville, Dayton and Indianapolis, where parts and assembly facilities are abundant. He will also target the primary metals market and introduce the product range to decision makers at aluminium and steel mills.
Deck's focus will be more exclusively metals in an area incorporating Chicago, Milwaukee and Northwest Indiana.
O'Leary's market is more unique, with a number of paper mills and US Navy shipyards on his watch.
