Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has won a USD334 million port equipment order from the Romanian port of Constantza.
The equipment was facilitated through Japan's first-ever, large-scale loan to an eastern European country. It will also be the first time MHI has exported cranes to Europe, according to a Lloyd's List report. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2003.
The three ship-to-shore gantries, eight rubber-tyred gantries and two rail-mounted gantries will be manufactured in MHI's Hiroshima factory and shipped to Romania. The order came after MHI won a tender last August.
