The Marangoni Group has bought German company Recamax Reifen GmbH, a specialist in the distribution of earthmoving retreads, for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition boosts the company's presence in this market segment in German-speaking countries, and adds to its existing operations through the company Wenzel Industrie GmbH, acquired in 2009.

Recamax and Marangoni have partnered for over 25 years. The acquisition is expected to lead to further improvements in the services offered, specifically in logistics, support and technical and product consulting.

Luca Mai, earthmoving sales director of Marangoni SpA, says this transaction confirms the Marangoni Group's strategic focus on premium retreading of earthmoving tyres in the main European markets.

"One of our primary objectives is to clearly demonstrate to customers the potential for savings offered by our products in the highly specialist segment of earthmoving and industrial retreads, and indeed the presence of Recamax as part of our group will allow us to pursue this objective in a more incisive, competent and efficient way," Mai explains.

Christoph Frost, managing director of Wenzel Industrie, supports the acquisition. "Recamax represents an expert and efficient partner for our group. The two companies complement each other, thanks to their expertise in different fields. In this way, our service and performance in the sector of earthmoving tyre premium retreading will improve even further, with the objective of increasing customer satisfaction (more) every day."

Heike Nowak will remain at the helm of Recamax as managing director. He calls the acquisition of the company by Marangoni "a logical and strategic move".

"I have known Marangoni for more than 25 years, and our long-term partnership, based on mutual trust, has made this decision even easier. Together with Marangoni and Wenzel, we will strengthen our market position, and I am confident that with this decision we have laid the foundations for further success."

Marangoni is one of a handful of companies in the world involved in the entire lifecycle of tyres, from the production of new tyres and tyre retreading to the thermal processing of old tyres with energy recovery.

It has been operating in the industrial tyre segment, and specifically tyres for forklifts, for over 30 years. It has a factory specialising in the production of super-elastic tyres for industrial applications in Sri Lanka.

For German-speaking countries, Wenzel Industrie assists in fitting forklift tyres directly at customer sites, with a fleet of over 100 mobile fitting presses operated by independent dealers and managed through the Quickmont network.
