The new Korea Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (Kocema) president says he will help lead members to global prominence through co-operation in acquiring greater technology.

Doosan Infracore CEO Cheo Sung-Chul, Kocema's sixth president, said in a speech he supported joint technology development among Kocema members to create "cutting-edge products and acquire greater technological expertise".

"I also intend to forge close ties with leading construction equipment organisations and institutions in the US, Europe, Japan and China to elevate the global stature of our industry in Korea.

"I will work hard to increase the exports of Korean construction equipment makers," he said.

Choe graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Seoul National University and joined Doosan Machinery Company in 1977. He was promoted to president of Doosan Mechatec in 1999 and appointed Doosan Infracore CEO in 2005.

Forklift manufacturers Doosan Infracore Co Ltd, Volvo Construction Equipment Korea Co Ltd and Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd are Kocema members.
