Heavy Lift delivers "monster" to South AfricaMaterials handling equipment supplier Heavy Lift has delivered Konecranes largest standard reachstacker to South African logistics services provider C. Steinweg Group under a 60-month rental agreement.
The SMV 4646 TC5 reachstacker will be used to lift containers from a siding at C. Steinweg Bridge’s Johannesburg facility.
Lenny Naidoo, Heavy Lift’s national product specialist, says the new reachstacker has a lift capacity of 46T on the first and second row of containers and 36T on the third row.
Naidoo says standard reachstackers can pick up 45T on the first row, 32T on the second and 17T on the third.
“This is what really differentiates the SMV 4646 TC5 from other reach stackers, making it a true ‘monster’ of a machine,” he adds.
The reachstacker was delivered to C. Steinweg Group in components and assembled at the site in less than two weeks.
Heavy Lift, a division of CFAO Equipment, says the order marked a milestone for the business.
“When we were approached by C. Steinweg Bridge, the business wanted to replace its existing unit with new equipment with more capability on the second and third,” Heavy Lift’s Naidoo continues.
“After much deliberation, the team signed up for the SMV 4646 TC5 on a 60-month rental contract, viewing it as the ideal solution for enhancing capabilities and improving efficiencies on site..
Group asset manager of C. Steinweg Bridge, Christiaan Venter, says this new addition will enhance its operational efficiency.
“The new reachstacker not only offers superior lifting capacity but is equipped with an advanced telematics system…which enables us to keep customers informed about their projects,” Venter notes.
“It also allows us to monitor uptime and access real-time diagnostics, supporting predictive maintenance and maximising performance.”
