The modular design system on which KAUP's range of products is based is not only for attachments for handling palletized and non-palletized goods - it also includes equipment for handling various types of standard and special containers. These handling devices are used in numerous branches of industry e.g. in inter-modal logistics, production, service and repairs, as well as container rental. Worldwide, containers need to be transported in order to form temporary and sometimes permanent building facilities for industry, offices and administration, for medical and health care, humanitarian missions, schools, accommodation, sanitary facilities as well as for sales and event venues. Containers, regardless of size and shape are also used for transportation and handling of scrap and wood chips.
KAUP has special equipment in their program to handle all different kinds of containers. This equipment, which can also be tailor made to meet the specific requirements of the customer, can be combined with other KAUP function modules - e.g. Fork Positioners and Rotators.
Container Spreader and Container Carrying Frames for forklift trucksNumerous fields of application and differing sizes makes container handling challenging. For this reason
KAUP container spreaders and container carrying frames are specially designed so that pick-up of containers can be done in various ways. The T192 range picks up the container from the top - as known from typical ship to shore operations - the T193 picks up containers from the side.
Both types of pick-up are possible with these handling devices. They ensure exact positioning and, amongst other features they can be designed with a telescopic range crosswise (e.g. 20'-40', 10'-20', 13'-27' or 10'-24') and lengthwise (e.g. 8'-11' or 6'-9') , level compensation, hydraulic locking system and a maximum capacity of up to 35 tons - depending on the type of spreader and size of the forklift truck.
Spreaders and carrying frames can be individually designed to suit the required application. Upon request these handling devices can be fitted with cameras, monitors installed in the driver's cabin showing the status of contact or with signal lamps on the frame, white showing the spreader in contact with the container, green indicating locked position ready for pick-up and red indicating unlocked position. In addition sideshift stroke, reverse forks or special corner stops and/or flippers are all part of the extensive accessory program provided by
KAUP.
Endframes make handling of containers for transport, inspection and repairs possibleApart from top container spreaders T192 and lateral container carrying frames T193, KAUP also offers so called endframes with rotation T193LD. Endframes are specially designed to pick up the containers at the small side - the end of the container - and allow the container to be rotated 360° endless for transportation, inspection and repairs.
KAUP endframes are designed with a hydraulic locking system including twistlock and cylinder. In order to pick up containers from the end two pins insert from the top into the existing corner castings of the container. From the bottom two (cone shaped) twistlocks insert into the corner castings and lock. Now the container can be lifted, rotated, inspected from all sides, repaired if necessary, and transported to its final destination for stacking lengthwise. Endframes are used worldwide in harbours, container rental and repair businesses.
