Following tender process, Konecranes will deliver an E-VER electric forklift to the Irish Defence Forces this financial quarter, to be used at its primary Logistics Hub in County Kildare.
According to Konecranes, the order is for a Konecranes E-VER 16-1200C forklift with a fully electric driveline and a capacity of 16 T.
The E-VER 16-1200C forklift comes with a lithium-ion battery pack for fast charging and, Konecranes claims, the lack of moving parts, heat and oil require less maintenance while decreasing the amount of chemical waste produced.
It also features ample sensors for rapid diagnostics while the zero tailpipe emissions make it suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.
"The purchase of this fully electric machine is in line with Irish Defence Forces' stated intent to seek out clean and innovative transport solutions, and is a clear demonstration of our eco-efficient procurement initiatives," says Col Brendan Norton, director of transport for the Irish Defence Forces.
The forklift will be supplied in standard military matt olive green.
Patrik Lundbäck, Konecranes’ Lift Trucks vice president sales and distribution, says: “We are pleased to announce yet another order for a defence and peacekeeping organisation, which shows the sector’s strong interest in our innovative and reliable machines”.
