This week's decision to repeal a range of tariffs on Chinese imports is good news twice-over for materials handling. Firstly, tariffs on a range of forklifts have been lifted, potentially dropping prices by 25%. But, possibly more importantly, the move marks the first calming effort in a trade war that was impacting on the global economy.
As we published this week's newsletter, few in the industry were aware of the latest US move, and even fewer understood the mechanisms for the wind-back, nor the implications.
