No longer the stuff of science fiction, driverless forklifts are certainly making their presence felt.
Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) have come a long way since the first model produced by Barrett Electronics in 1953 and are becoming increasingly common in workplaces. And it's not hard to see why: they work around the clock, don't suffer lapses in concentration, don't make mistakes, don't get injured - and certainly don't agitate for higher wages and more leave.
But they are not perfect, nor cheap - and they don't fit in everywhere.
This week, AGVs make two appearances in the newsletter - in a case study from Belgium and in news of Linde's strategic partnership with a robotics industry leader. I hope you find these accounts interesting.

On another topic, we would like to apologise to those readers who only got last week's newsletter yesterday. This was due to a technical issue which affected a very small number of subscribers. Hopefully, you had a chance to read that one before this edition arrived!
