It seems that every year, we need to remind readers of the risks of online fraud.
This week, our Australian readers will find an article about an online scam using emails pretending to come from an online portal and which attempts to get user information.
Quite simply, this was a case of phishing (the act of attempting to acquire information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details - and sometimes, indirectly, money - by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication, according to the Wikipedia definition).
As an organisation which does most of its customer interaction online, Forkliftaction is determined to avoid online fraud. We have many safeguards on our system to avoid hacking, but we cant prevent people impersonating us. So its important for all readers to remember that Forkliftaction.com will never ask for your log-in details or any other confidential information via email. Even if it looks like its from us, if any email requests confidential information, ignore it. Better still, forward it on to us so that we can alert others and avoid any risks of fraud.
