Should forklift operator refresher training be compulsory everywhere?
Should forklift operator refresher training be compulsory everywhere?

Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower is introducing mandatory refresher forklift training every three years for all operators as it works to reduce the incidence of accidents involving forklifts.

Is it time for other countries to look at introducing the same regulation?

OSHA in the US mandates forklift operators be evaluated every three years, but refresher training is only required if a need for it is identified.

In the UK, most operator licences issued have a five-year expiration period which prompts refresher training by many organisations. However, there is no legal requirement and the UK government recommends refresher training every three to five years.

What do you think? Should refresher forklift training be mandatory world-wide and would it likely reduce workplace accidents. Let us know your thoughts
