A belated happy National Forklift Safety Day to readers on both sides of the Atlantic.
This week, the event marked its 10th anniversary in the United States and its fourth in the UK after it was shifted to coincide with the American date.
Since the early days of NFSD, Forkliftaction News has advocated for a Global Forklift Safety Day, bringing together the efforts of regulators, associations, manufacturers, dealers, trainers and fleet managers in a unified drive to highlight the threats in the workplace and the steps needed to overcome them.
Maybe next year, associations in Europe, Asia and Australasia will come onboard.
As I’ve said in the past, while we respect any efforts to highlight safety on a particular day, every day should be a forklift safety day.
To quote from my favourite ‘80s TV show, Hill Street Blues: “Let’s be careful out there!”
