The IFOY organisation has named 13 trucks and solutions from BYD, Crown, Jungheinrich, SSI Schäfer, STILL and Toyota Material Handling as finalists for the international forklift of the year awards.
This year's shortlist includes the first Chinese nominee, the three-wheeled ECB18C electric forklift from BYD, which is competing for counterbalance truck honours against the Crown C-5 four-wheel LPG model and the lithium-ion Traigo 48 from Toyota Material Handling.
The five finalists in the warehouse truck category are:
* Jungheinrich's EKX 516 electric order picker/forklift
* STILL's EXV-SF16i highlifter truck
* Toyota's BT Staxio SPE 140L electric highlifter
* Crown's RT 4020 forklift with driver platform
* Jungheinrich's EZS 5100 tugger train solution
There are two finalists in the special vehicle category: the Jungheinrich EJQ 325 and STILL's horizontal order picker CX-S 16.
This year, concepts from Crown, SSI Schäfer and STILL made it into the final round for intralogistics system solutions.
Crown is under consideration for a quick-pick remote solution for Jumbo Supermarkten; SSI Schäfer won a nomination for the inhouse-developed fleet solution with Weasel driverless transport systems, implemented at the NextLevel Logistik GmbH company; and STILL is being considered for its work at the Miehlen logistics centre of Heuchemer Verpackung GmbH & Co.
The finalists will participate in the IFOY Test and Innovation Check and be judged by 25 internationally reputed trade journalists and the leading logistics media from 16 countries around the globe.

The IFOY Awards will be presented on May 31 at the CeMAT opening ceremony in Hannover.
