The fact that TYRI is at the forefront of the development of lighting for work vehicles is evident in the product portfolio – with a mix from high-quality standard lamps to specially designed and innovative lighting solutions. But the fact that high quality also positively affects sustainability and environmental benefits is perhaps something you don't think about every day. As the company and its customers grow, the demand for fast and efficient problem solving ability also increases, which promotes work for sustainable and environmentally conscious solutions.

When speaking with Kristoffer Lindgren, Head of Quality and Sustainability at TYRI, it becomes clear how everything is connected. Among other things, he explains how a clear focus on quality means that TYRI also improves sustainability and environmentally conscious products and can therefore continue to be an attractive global supplier to the largest producers in the world.

"When we talk about quality, there are two main tracks that we work with, proactivity and reactivity. Anticipating challenges and problems is a key to reducing complaints and keeping energy consumption down, both in production and when using our work lights. These proactive projects are constantly rolling and together with expertise within the company, we are constantly solving problems early in the development process to further improve quality. The reactive work is about meeting customers' complaints and quality challenges. Here it is important to quickly gather expertise within the company and find the reason for the error that has occurred. After hard work with problem solving and innovative design changes, it is now very rare to have new unknown errors on existing lamps."

Kristoffer describes how everything is related to quality and the company's sustainability goals and environmental work as follows.

"Simply put, the high quality of our lamps gives a longer product life, and this means that our customers do not have to buy new lamps as often. Where possible, we try to use recycled materials in our production, which are at least the same quality as new materials. One example is aluminum where 100% is recycled material.

We develop our manufacturing based on a sustainability mindset, which means that quality and sustainability are interrelated. Today, we place high demands, both on our suppliers and on ourselves. We are one of the leaders in the industry and we are growing strongly. Therefore, of course, we should also be at the forefront of sustainability and the environment, just as we do in technical development. This enables us to ensure our continued success with business to large global customers."

This quality first mindset also provides other advantages, according to Kristoffer – the most important being knowledge.

"For example, requesting lamps that do not meet expectations or have something wrong are returned, is crucial to be able to improve the quality. These are like a knowledge bank and contain extremely valuable information. Any lamp that does not perform as promised provides additional information to help us improve and move forward.

Often it is about lamps being used in a way that we did not foresee and in fewer cases some form of manufacturing error. But at some point, there is a new error and then our expertise is put to the test and in that process, we learn an incredible amount and keep learning things we can use in our continued development to deliver the best possible lighting to work vehicles."

TYRI strives to be the best we can be both in sustainability and being environmentally conscious, however you can also help with simple steps. For example, switching from Halogen lighting to LED can not only reduce your impact on the environment but also provide you with additional benefits.

LEDs draw less power than Halogens reducing the strain on your machine battery. This ensures more power is available for other applications such as GPS, onboard computers or more lighting to the area around your machine, all, in most cases, without increasing the capacity of your alternator.

Fuel saving is also a benefit - with lower energy draw, fuel consumption is reduced and so are costs.

Working in environments that are hard on machines, such as mining, construction or forestry, you rely on your equipment being built to withstand the punishing regime and you want a light to match this. LEDs use solid-state construction so there are no breakable bulbs, fragile filaments or sensitive electrodes like those in halogen lighting. This means LEDs are the ideal choice for vehicle applications where rough terrain would cause traditional work lights to fail.

LEDs can produce a light output greater than a Halogen light but in the same footprint.   This means you could have a brighter light, reach and spread without having to create new mountings and wiring.
