GRI entered the Australian market in 2014 with its superior specialty tire offering, and became a national company in 2019. Established in 2002 in Sri Lanka, GRI has built a solid foundation in the global material handling tire market that has since expanded in recent years to include a comprehensive range of construction and agricultural products.

Utilizing high-grade and sustainably sourced Sri Lankan natural rubber, all GRI tire products are manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities and distributed to more than 50 countries worldwide. GRI has risen to become a global specialty tire market leader while remaining a family-owned business.

From humble beginnings in Brisbane, GRI now operate service agencies in Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Darwin, in addition to working with numerous regional partnership agencies to form a country wide service and supply network. With a presence in all states and territories supporting the agricultural, construction, and material handling industry segments, the company has been able to make significant inroads with local businesses and distributors while staying true to their core values of environmental and social sustainability. GRI is one of the fastest growing, most responsive, and proactive organizations in this segment.

Working closely with machine manufacturers, hire and fleet rental companies, logistics providers and warehousing operations, GRI Australia understands the challenges faced by its customers. GRI’s success is in their drive to better understand the needs and values of their customers in order to support them through some of the unique challenges that come with working in Australia. Droughts, fires, floods, scorching heat and immense geographical dispersion means that products have to be reliable, durable and available with local service partners and support at the ready.

“Understanding the needs and ambitions of our customers and providing sustainable solutions to suit them is at the core of who we are as GRI. None of what we do is possible without these relationships and we are incredibly grateful to work alongside so many phenomenal organizations. Our business is built around the need to deliver support to our customers. This might be on-site fitment solutions, break-down assistance or, being able to deliver innovative, high-performance products suited for their operational demands” explained Levi Silcox, General Manager GRI Australia & New Zealand.

GRI's Material Handling range including the newly released ULTIMATE GREEN-XT, is a testament to where performance, durability and value meet innovation and sustainability. With a vision to not only minimize any potential strain on the environment relating to raw materials, GRI looks to natural, renewable and carbon neutral materials that consume less energy to extract and process without impacting the quality and performance of the product. Pioneering the use of natural oils, reclaimed rubber, recycled carbon black, and highly dispersible silica, the ULTIMATE GREEN XT tire contains 42.8% sustainably sourced material.

“All decisions within GRI are weighed against potential impacts on the environment and reinforced through green practices from sourcing raw materials, production processes, waste management, and energy utilization. Our production facilities are equipped with expansive solar-panel arrays, biomass boilers, water reclamation systems making GRI a green tire company from the ground up.” concluded Mr. Silcox.

Local initiatives include the installation of solar panels and earth-wool insulation in some of our workshop facilities, the active participation in tire recycling and repurposing of used tire products as well as the migration to paperless systems supporting the company’s drive to be socially and environmentally sustainable.

GRI is in the process of exploring opportunities in a number of areas aimed at strengthening its existing relationships, creating new bonds and, adding to its service capacity. Eager to develop GRI’s presence in New Zealand in both material handling and agricultural tire segments GRI is also exploring opportunities throughout the Pacific Islands and New

The reason for success is the combined efforts of both teams in Australia and Sri Lanka. “We work towards a unified vision that is espoused by Mr. Prabhash Subasinghe, Managing Director, GRI, and Dr. Mahesha Ranasoma, CEO, GRI. It is with our shared values, beliefs, and ideation that the team in Australia has been able to strive towards such rapid progress,” said Mr. Silcox.
