Gottwald Port Technology GmbH has secured an order from a new customer in Columbia for two Generation 5 mobile harbour cranes.

Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Barranquilla SA (SPRB) selected the G HMK 6407 cranes to modernise its existing fleet. The cranes will be delivered to SPRB in June.

SPRB operational manager Pablo Riveira De La Rosa said a major consideration for opting Gottwald as its supplier was the option on Gottwald's diesel-electric drive system to switch over to fully electric drive.

"We are confident that Gottwald's cranes, which will mainly be used for loading and unloading container ships up to Panamax size with 13 container rows, are optimum for the foreseeable future."

The order value was not disclosed.
