Q. What is your event about? CeMAT Asia is the foremost trade fair for Asia's high-growth materials handling and logistics sectors. Keynote themes this year are materials handling, logistics, transport and warehousing.
Q. Give us an idea of the degree of industry participation in your event. Thanks to another record-breaking exhibitor turnout this year, we are very satisfied with the degree of industry participation. That success is underscored by the many forklift manufacturers exhibiting at the show. In addition to world leaders, such as Toyota, Linde, Jungheinrich, Mitsubishi, Kone, Komatsu, OM, Hyundai and Still, top Chinese manufacturers, such as Anhui Heli, Hangzhou, Shangli and Tailift, are participating. They will be joined by suppliers of forklift accessories, such as Cascade, Kaup, Auramo Bolzoni, GS, Hoppecke and Solideal.
Q. Tell us how your event came about and how it has developed over the years? The successful CeMAT format was originally launched in Hannover, Germany. Years ago, we identified the close link between the business climate for the Chinese and Asian logistics industry and overall economic growth in the region. In the eyes of the logistics industry, Asia, and in particular China, are regarded as miraculous growth markets. Those factors prompted us to bring the CeMAT format to the booming Chinese market. History shows that was the right decision. China has swiftly become one of the world's top ten intralogistics suppliers, and CeMAT Asia has become a leading trade show in the Asia-Pacific region.
Q. What are some of the challenges you face in staging the event? We faced few problems and challenges throughout the past several years. One reason for that is the SNIEC. The ultra-modern exhibition grounds, operated as a joint venture by trade fair companies in Hannover, Munich and Düsseldorf and the Shanghai Pudong Land Development Corporation, meet the highest international standards. The infrastructure, facilities and services offered by SNIEC made it easier for us to raise CeMAT Asia to its current status as one of the most important fairs in the Asia-Pacific region. The shows are always staged in close collaboration with Chinese associations and that has been highly beneficial.
Q. How do you measure the success of your event? Statistics provide an indication of the CeMAT brand's prestige: 350 firms will present innovative products and solutions on some 20,000 square metres of space. That is an increase of about 28% on last year's figures. We are confident the growth curve will keep rising in years to come.
