Doosan has celebrated a record year, exceeding 300,000 units in sales, with an impressive display at the UK's largest intralogistics exhibition, IMHX. New advanced products, a refocused business model and rapid sales in emerging markets mean there's a bright future ahead, according to the forklift division CEO, CW Park.

With an increase in awareness from one of the largest presences at IMHX and boosted by a number of new product launches and upgrades, the company looks set to emerge stronger from the economic downturn than many of its rivals.

IMHX2013 has proved to be the most successful materials handling exhibition yet, with visitor numbers surpassing the high levels of 2010. Doosan hosted one of the largest stands at the Intralogistics show and flew in visitors from around the world to celebrate its most successful year ever.

Total visitor number in 2013 were 19,526, up considerably from 2010's 13,500 and on a par with the numbers last seen when the show was co-located with The Cleaning Show in 2007, when 19,223 visited.

"We must congratulate the organisers who put in a lot of hard work to deliver an excellent show," says UK director, Tim Waples. "We had fantastic feedback from our dealers, customers and special guests and it has showed how far we have come in a short space of time. I am certain we will build on our successful appearance and make even greater strides forward."

Traditionally, Doosan has used the IMHX show as a launch pad for new initiatives, including in 2007 the introduction of its Pro-5 counterbalance range. This year was no exception, with a new reach truck, warehouse equipment range and low emission diesel engines on display.

Doosan has introduced its new diesel 4.0t to 9.0t capacity trucks with the new Euro Stage IIIB engine at IMHX, exceeding all requirements of the new European emissions directive (2004/26/EC) for vehicles in the 56 to 75 KW power range. The latest range of pedestrian and ride-on pallet trucks, the LEDH series, and the LEKF Low Level Order Picker, were also shown for the first time in the UK. The on-going development of a new Euro Stage IV-compliant engine has also seen Doosan Industrial Vehicle in collaboration with its well-established Doosan Engine division.

Doosan's new G2 Engine, on show for the first time at IMHX, uses Advanced Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) to recirculate a proportion of the exhaust gas back into the engine to reduce NOx formation, and Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), a Non-Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system which saves customers both maintenance time and costs.

"We received several quality enquiries from potential customers, plus valuable enquiries for larger fleets, all of which makes the effort well worthwhile," concluded Tim.

The presence of Doosan Corporation CEO, Jim Bemowski, as well as record-breaking dealers from the UK, Russia, Norway, Austria and South Africa, added an extra element of celebration to the proceedings.

Said CW Park: "Doosan is delighted to be celebrating at IMHX, which we see as the leading exhibition in Europe for our range of products. We're very pleased to have our CEO, Jim Bemowski, with us and some of our best performing dealers from around the world. This has been a fantastic year for us and we have an expanded range of products that will take us even further ahead."

Jim Bemowski praised the organisation and marketing of Doosan's presence at IMHX and expressed his excitement at seeing the development of the forklift brand at close quarters. Said Jim: "This is a great show, and I'm impressed with the work and commitment of our UK teams in delivering a great experience for our dealers and visitors. We are broadening people's image of what we do. We have Bobcat and 16 tonners here also, which subtly enhances our credibility. Our brand isn't small, but by being here we can give dealers and customers confidence in us."
A gala dinner, held at the home of Aston Villa FC, was the final opportunity for Doosan to thank its visitors, including award-winning dealers and 200 special guests.

"We can take great satisfaction from the successes here, as well as the reception of our new reach truck and warehouse equipment product ranges," concludes CW Park. "We're also incredibly pleased with the enthusiasm of our dealers and national partners who are ensuring our sustained future growth."

Over 200 Doosan models are now available, from the simple hand pallet truck to the giant 16, 18 and 25 tonne diesel trucks. Doosan is also the name behind the world renowned Bobcat brand of tele-handlers, skid steers and compact excavators, plus the heavy Doosan construction equipment such as large excavators, wheeled loaders, dump trucks and high capacity telehandlers.
