DHL Supply Chain says it is set to become the largest provider of reverse logistics solutions in North America with the acquisition of Inmar Supply Chain Solutions.

Inmar Supply Chain Solutions, previously a division of Inmar Intelligence, is a returns solutions provider for the retail e-commerce industry. The acquisition will see 14 return centres and 800 staff join the DHL Supply Chain business.

This will take DHL to more than 520 warehouses supported by a workforce of 52,000 nationally.

“In the light of a rapidly growing e-commerce market and changing consumer behaviour, returns are an increasingly important touchpoint for retail customers, both in store and online,” DHL states.

DHL North America CEO Patrick Kelleher adds: “This acquisition strengthens our existing capabilities, allowing us to offer our customers a single-source solution for their entire supply chain, including the critical and complex area of returns management”.

"The strategic growth opportunities that the returns market brings will enhance the success of DHL Supply Chain,” Kelleher continues. “It also puts us on the right path to support DHL Group's plan to achieve 50% revenue growth by 2030 compared to 2023 as outlined in our recently announced Strategy 2030."

It’s the year 2000. You’re in front of a boxy beige desktop waiting for the screeching ramblings of your dial-up to reach its finale. You go to Yahoo!, MSN, or maybe AOL, and start the mind-numbing process of finding your very specific needle in the digital haystack. And with web pages loading one image at a time, patience isn’t just a virtue – it’s a requirement!

As clumsy as this early iteration seems now, this technology was the great enabler that allowed Forkliftaction to connect to the industry across the globe.
