Render of the automated distribution centreUS-headquartered automation technology provider Dematic, has been chosen to deliver a greenfield automated intralogistics solution which will see three existing locations combined into one.
Car parts supplier and distributor CoolDrive Auto Parts has engaged Dematic to deliver the automated system in partnership with Three Sixty Supply Chain Group.
Dematic says the solution is built around its AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS), a technology designed for use in tight spaces.
The ARSR integrates with CoolDrive’s warehouse management system (WMS) and, Dematic states, was informed by its success in implementing a similar automated goods-to-person system for another Australian spare parts distributor operating the same WMS.
“To keep up with demand, [Auto Parts] had acquired additional storage sites to house growing volumes of bulk stock, resulting in fragmented operations, multiple handling steps, and inefficiencies across its fulfilment processes,” Dematic explains.
“With stock volumes continuing to rise, CoolDrive recognised the need for smarter, consolidated infrastructure that could scale efficiently and sustainably.”
Terry Jamieson, business development manager at Dematic says this is an exciting project.
“This solution will give CoolDrive the operational agility they need to continue leading in a competitive market,” Jamieson adds.
The new facility is expected to be completed by August 2026.
