This week, Forkliftaction.com News speaks to Sparky AD's purchasing specialist, Stefan Ginkov, about his company.

Q. What are your company's products and services?

Sparky AD employs 620 people and produces forklifts and backhoe loaders for the East European and Russian markets. The plant also specialises in OEM assembly and agricultural equipment and produces forgings, castings and welded and machined parts on a subcontracting basis for leading European and world manufacturers.

Q. Give a brief history of your company's involvement in the materials handling industry?

The production of forklifts is traditional for Bulgaria and Sparky AD has rich experience and an industry history. The production of forklifts and spare parts for them dates back to 1986 when the first assembly line was initiated. In 1990 Sparky AD started producing rough-terrain forklifts. The process is under continuous development so Sparky AD can offer clients better equipment to suit their needs. Sparky AD has a positive attitude to the environment, producing diesel and LPG-fueled forklifts. The production lines include 2-stage and 3-stage forklifts and the company can also supply the right spare parts and accessories. Sparky AD takes into consideration the technological prerequisites of each country to which it exports forklifts so its products are in accordance with the operational environment and technical norms.

Q. What is your company's current position in the regional market? How about globally?

Sparky AD is famous for quality in the domestic market and domestic clients consider the company trustworthy. Most forklifts are exported to the East European and Russian markets. Sparky AD's historical commitment to forklift production ensures continuous sales.

Sparky hopes to expand markets in Western Europe, where it is a reliable partner for current customers. Given its competitive advantages, the company expects a year-to-year rise in turnover.
