Briggs' warehousing solution for Trojan
Corporate clothing supplier Trojan UK has turned to Briggs Equipment for a warehousing solution at its new Birmingham facility.

Trojan has taken delivery of two new Yale M010 high-level order pickers and two Genie scissor lift machines at its new premises in Kings Norton Business Park.

The company, which handles up to 40 orders of corporate, practical and technical garments per hour, wanted to revamp its warehousing operations after it secured some major contracts.

Operations manager Peter McLoughlin explains that the old facility was "like a labyrinth" and that "it was taking us longer to pick and dispatch our stock".

"We needed a new facility where we could be more self-contained and, with the help of Briggs we now have a completely bespoke warehouse that will ensure we get goods in and out quickly."

Briggs supplied new machines and advised on the best racking to maximise efficiencies and keep operating costs low. Guide rollers have been installed on the side of the trucks' wheels to guide the machines forwards and backwards and magnets have been put into the floors to stop the trucks moving past the end of the aisle.

Briggs Equipment sales executive Dan Carley says since partnering with Yale a year ago, the forklift supplier has "considerably strengthened" its range of warehousing systems and products. "Our specialist warehouse simulation software has enabled us to modify the equipment to fit specifically with Trojan's operation.

"One of our main challenges was specifying the correct racking for a sloping ceiling. However, the warehouse simulator showed that we could use three different heights of racking which fit perfectly inside the warehouse and offer us optimum use of available space."

It’s the year 2000. You’re in front of a boxy beige desktop waiting for the screeching ramblings of your dial-up to reach its finale. You go to Yahoo!, MSN, or maybe AOL, and start the mind-numbing process of finding your very specific needle in the digital haystack. And with web pages loading one image at a time, patience isn’t just a virtue – it’s a requirement!

As clumsy as this early iteration seems now, this technology was the great enabler that allowed Forkliftaction to connect to the industry across the globe.

To everyone who has connected with Forkliftaction in the past 25 years, thank you for your contribution to our success! We feel deeply touched by your words of encouragement.

Words of support …

These releases in Forkliftaction are a nice experience for SNDC... We got seven inquiries coming from Canada, USA, Mexico, Israel and Australia (five from retailers, two from machines manufacturers) and we are still in contact with them. I can state that's a success story!
