BLT invests in advanced cargo handling equipment
Jacksonville, FL, United StatesBLT Logistics has invested in advanced cargo handling equipment to efficiently load and unload containerised cargo.
The logistics specialist procured a MecLift ML1612R variable reach truck, which has a lift height of 20 feet (six metres) and a 33,000lb (14,969kg) load capacity. The machine can drive into containers or reach inside them.
BLT Logistics' Ryan Mouritzen says empty containers can now be stacked in the container yard three-high, producing significant savings for the company's Jacksonville facility.
Awards' nomination deadline approaches

Firm pays for forklift incident
Luton, United KingdomA company was fined nearly GBP15,000 (USD24,270) after its forklift struck a customer in one of its stores.
The
Luton & Dunstable Express reported council health and safety officers took legal action against Bhavins Food Ltd, in Bury Park, Luton, after the incident.
The firm pleaded guilty to three offences under Section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
Magistrates fined Bhavins Foods GBP12,000 (USD19,416) plus GBP2,783 (USD4,503) towards council costs and a GBP15 (USD24) victim surcharge - in total GBP14,798 (USD23,946).
Councillor Joan Bailey told the newspaper the incident could have been avoided by separating the shopper and the forklift's movement inside the shop.
Heli recognised for promoting IT
Anhui, ChinaHeli has been recognised as one of China's top 50 enterprises to have integrated information technology and industrial activity. Heli's chief economic manager Zhang Mengqing also received an award honouring him as one of the top leaders who promoted the integration of information technology in industries.
The awards were held at the 2010 China Integration of Informatisation and Industrialisation Promotion Conference & China Information Industry CSR Summit, in Beijing.
More than 170 people attended the conference, which was sponsored by the China Computer Users' Association and the China Software and Service Outsourcing Contractor Network.
