Terex to build up to 200 rough-terrain forklifts

The systems command of the US Marine Corps has awarded a contract to Terex Corp for up to 200 light-capability rough-terrain forklifts. The award occurred without any competitive bidding.
The Quantico, Virginia-based command wants completion of work on the first phase of the program by September 2012 under an initial funding of USD9.9 million. Including that amount, the entire contract is for USD18.9 million under a firm, fixed-price arrangement with to-be-determined date and quantity provisions. The Terex government programs office in Fredericksburg submitted the bid.
For the second quarter ended 30 June, Terex of Westport, Connecticut reported a net loss from continuing operations of USD13.1 million compared to a loss of USD99.6 million for the year-earlier period. Sales in the 2010 second quarter were USD1.08 billion versus USD947.3 million in the comparable 2009 quarter.

Forklift drivers wanted at discount chain

B&M Bargains has 200 jobs available at its new Liverpool headquarters.
The discount retailer marked the official opening of its new warehouse and distribution centre in Speke last week. It has already created 600 jobs and is looking to take on another 200.
Joint managing director Simon Arora told the Daily Post that B&M was particularly looking for forklift and HGV drivers, as well as warehouse supervisory roles at the huge The Vault complex in Speke.

RFID Europe attracts interest
Cambridge, United Kingdom

RFID Europe held in Cambridge, UK on 28-29 September, has attracted 22 exhibitors with one more exhibitor space left.
Organiser IDTechEx, says the event will be "truly intentional, with everything relevant to Europe". Many of the delegates and speakers are said to be end users and prospective end users. Delegates include people from Argentina, Belarus, Czech Republic, India, Singapore, US, Romania and Korea.
Companies presenting include BMW, Centre Pompidou, Goodyear, Cambridge County Council Libraries, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Copenhagen Airports.

Watts Tyre Group passes assessment
Lydney, United Kingdom

Watts Tyre Group has passed the ongoing assessment for ISO 14001:2004.
Group CEO Jean-Paul Mindermann says quality accreditations are "very important" to the company and that it is "delighted to continue to keep standards high".
He says Watts Tyre Group has held ISO:9001 Quality Management in various forms since 1990 and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems since 2006.
Watts Tyre Group started manufacturing solid tyres in 1960. It distributes its tyres in over 60 countries and is owned by Premia Group Ltd.
