Lord Digby Jones a VIP at awards event
London, United KingdomFormer UK trade minister Lord Digby Jones has been confirmed as the guest speaker at the 16th annual Awards for Warehousing presentation ceremony. The event will be held alongside the annual United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) luncheon, taking place at the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane, London on July 1.
The deadline for submissions for the 10 awards is 10 April 2015. Entry forms can be downloaded from:
www.ukwa.org.uk where there are details on the categories as well as table booking information for the luncheon.
Peter Ward, CEO of UKWA, says: "We are thrilled that Lord Digby Jones will be our guest speaker at the Awards ... I would encourage anybody wishing to attend to book early as there will be a huge demand for places at this special occasion."
Konecranes wins society award
Hyvinkää, FinlandKonecranes has won the Automation Award 2015 presented by the Finnish Society of Automation. The award was given for the development of new, harmonised automation architecture for lifting equipment in the Industrial Internet era.
The award-winning automation architecture can be applied in a wide range of lifting equipment and for different customer needs. Thanks to the standardised architecture, Konecranes says, the automation, remote service and user interface solutions are scalable and thus suitable for everything from small industrial cranes to heavy, demanding process cranes. The team that worked on the award-winning architecture consists of Tuomo Härkönen, Jari Tiittanen, Jari Pehkonen and Ville Saarela.
This is the 13th time that the Finnish Society of Automation has presented the Automation Award.
UKWA Multimodal Challenge
London, United KingdomMultimodal 2015 expo visitors are invited to take part in the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) Multimodal Challenge by playing a specially adapted 'speed version' of the educational board game, Business on the Move.
The game's aim is to maximise the value of deliveries by air, land and sea. Playing against the clock, participants have to balance delivering lucrative long-distance orders with smaller but quicker deliveries nearer to base.
There will be 30 games played over the course of the exhibition. A daily leader board will record the best scores, with the overall winner being invited to the UKWA Annual Awards and Luncheon at The Dorchester Hotel, London in July to receive the winner's trophy from former British trade minister Lord Digby Jones.
Sixty places are open to UKWA Multimodal Challenge members and the closing date for entries is April 17. To enter, please email
